Evacuate immediately from coastal regions and riverside areas when a tsunami warning is in effect to a safer place such as high ground or an evacuation building.
Estimated tsunami arrival times show the earliest expected strikes for each tsunami forecast region. In some coastal regions, tsunami waves may hit after this time.
As tsunami waves may reach their maximum height a few hours or more after the estimated arrival time, do not leave safe ground until the warning is lifted regardless of recorded tsunami heights.
Actual tsunami heights may exceed estimations in some coastal regions.

[Details of estimated tsunami heights]
Tsunami with greater estimated heights cause more serious damage.
Over 10 m   A huge tsunami of this scale is expected to cause
catastrophic damage. Wooden buildings will be
                 completely destroyed and/or washed away,
and people will be caught in tsunami currents.
10 m   A huge tsunami of this scale is expected to cause serious
damage. Wooden buildings will be completely destroyed
and/or washed away, and people will be caught in tsunami
                 currents.
5 m   A tsunami of this scale is expected to cause serious
damage. Wooden buildings will be completely destroyed
and/or washed away, and people will be caught in
                 tsunami currents.
3 m   A tsunami of this scale is expected to cause damage in
low-lying areas. Wooden buildings will be flooded and
people will be caught in tsunami currents.
1 m   A tsunami of this scale is expected to result in people
being caught in strong currents in the sea. Fish farming
facilities will be washed away and small vessels will capsize.

Slight sea-level changes may be observed in coastal regions other than the above, but no tsunami damage is expected in these regions.
