From 11 to 15 December 2023, two technical experts from WMO/RIC Tsukuba paid a visit to Mauritius Meteorological Services (MMS) to provide on-site training on meteorological instrument calibration as part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project for Enhancing Meteorological Observation, Weather Forecasting and Warning Capabilities. This followed an initial course of on-site training held at MMS in January 2020.
The experts positively rated MMS's laboratory calibration of barometers and thermometers (as covered in the previous training) and reviewed its performance of AWS-station instrument inspection. Discussions were also held on guidelines and manuals for MMS barometer/thermometer calibration.
Both training courses successfully laid the ground for further collaboration involving WMO/RIC Tsukuba.
