Fiji Meteorological Service visit for advanced training on traceability and calibration (2025)

From March 10 to 17 2025, six technical staff from the Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) visited WMO/RIC Tsukuba and the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) headquarters to undergo advanced training on traceability and calibration of meteorological instruments. The program was part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project titled Capacity Development for Improvement of Meteorological Forecasting and Warning and for Establishment of Regional Centers for the Pacific, and followed other training events held in 2018 and 2023.

Trainees learned about meteorological instrument calibration systems in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, practiced calibration procedures relating to pressure, and covered uncertainty calculations. The course is expected to support the establishment of an FMS Regional Instrument Center.
