Visit by PAGASA Administrator Dr. Nathaniel T. Servando

Dr. Nathaniel T. Servando, Administrator at the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and three executive staff visited the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project for "Enhancing Capacity on Weather Observation, Forecasting and Warning", on 21 and 23 May 2024.

On 21 May, Dr. Servando and the executive staff met a JMA management group led by the Director-General Mr. Mori Takashi. Both sides expressed their appreciation for the long-term friendship and cooperation between the two organizations and agreed on further strengthening of the cooperation in various fields. During the visit, a series of presentations were made by JMA to share its latest activities in various areas including its legislation and public-private engagement, weather radar operations, forecast and warning operations, decision support services, and marine and aviation meteorological services. On 23 May, the delegation also visited the JMA's Meteorological Satellite Center and Supercomputer system in Kiyose, Tokyo.
