Visit by Ms Koh Li-Na, Director-General of Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS)
On 28 November 2025, Ms. Koh Li-Na, Director-General of Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), and an MSS delegation visited the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) and met with the Director-General NOMURA Ryoichi.
Both parties expressed appreciation for the long-standing friendship and cooperation between their organizations. They agreed to strengthen collaboration in various fields, especially aviation weather services, including through collaborative technical development activities in a mutually beneficial manner. Focus was also placed on the importance of promoting youth engagement across the value chain of meteorological services, in light of the upcoming WMO Youth Focal Point Coordination Meeting to be held in Tokyo, Japan in January 2026. JMA additionally gave a briefing on JMA’s operational aviation weather services and recent technological developments. The delegation also visited JMA's forecast operation room and received a briefed briefing on operations of aerodrome forecasting.
