Meeting of the WMO/GAW Science Advisory Group on Reactive Gases (SAG RG) (Osaka, Japan, 2 – 4 October 2018)

The Meeting of the WMO/GAW Science Advisory Group on Reactive Gases (SAG RG) was held at the Osaka Regional Headquarters of the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) from 2 to 4 October 2018. The meeting was attended by 16 SAG RG members from 11 countries and the WMO Secretariat.

The SAG RG focuses on tropospheric ozone, precursor nitrogen oxide gases (NO and NO2), selected volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and sulfur dioxide (SO2), which play major roles as short-lived greenhouse gases, air pollutants and/or influences on agriculture and natural ecosystems.

The various agenda items included the handover of the SAG RG Chair, reviews of measurement guidelines for NOx and VOCs, reports on GAW central facilities and scientific activities, and discussions on science and related services.

The attendees paid a brief visit to the forecast/earthquake operation centers at Osaka Regional Headquarters on 3 October.
