Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) Deputy Director-General Dr. Songkran Agsorn led a delegation on a visit to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) from 8 to 10 September 2015.
JMA maintains favorable relations with TMD, especially in the fields of meteorological and climatological services.
The visitors met a JMA management group led by the Agency's Director-General Mr. Noritake Nishide and discussed future collaboration in the field of meteorological and climatological services.
The attendees were given a tour of JMA's operational centers, attended a series of presentations by JMA experts on the Agency's cutting-edge activities, and engaged in discussions on related matters in areas such as weather radar observation, the Himawari-8 next-generation geostationary meteorological satellite, aviation weather information, climate services and World Meteorological Organization Information System activities.
The group also visited JMA's Meteorological Satellite Center and its Office of Computer Systems Operation (both located in the city of Kiyose) on 10 September.
