Visit by WMO/RA II President H.E. Dr. Abdulla Ahmed Al Mandous
H.E. Dr. Abdulla Ahmed Al Mandous, the president of Regional Association II (Asia) under the World Meteorological Organization, led a delegation on a visit to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) on 10 April 2023 for the first time since 2017.
The group paid a courtesy visit to JMA Director-General OBAYASHI Masanori to discuss challenges facing NMHSs in Asia. The President expressed appreciation for JMA's long history of international cooperation in the region and aspirations for an ongoing JMA role in regional leadership.
The delegation took a tour of JMA's Forecast Operations and Seismology and Volcanology Operations, and visited its Meteorological Science Museum to learn about the Agency's efforts toward public awareness of meteorology and disaster risk reduction.
