Visit by PAGASA Executive Dr. Landrico U. Dalida from 1 to 5 February 2016

Dr. Landrico U. Dalida, Officer-in-Charge at the Office of the Deputy Administrator for Operations & Services at the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), paid a visit to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) from 1 to 5 February 2016 in relation to the Project for Enhancing Capacity on Weather Observation, Forecasting and Warning run by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Dr. Dalida met a JMA management group led by the Agency's Director-General Mr. Noritake Nishide and discussed future collaboration in the field of meteorological services.

He was given a tour of JMA's operational centers and attended a series of presentations by JMA experts on the Agency's cutting-edge activities such as weather forecasting, numerical weather prediction, weather radar observation, operation of the Himawari-8 next-generation geostationary meteorological satellite and output of aviation weather information.

Dr. Dalida also visited JMA's Meteorological Satellite Center and its Office of Computer Systems Operation, its Meteorological College, its Meteorological Research Institute, its Meteorological Instrument Center, its Sapporo Regional Headquarters and its New Chitose Aviation Weather Station.
