The Advisor to H.E. the President of Chile visited JMA Headquarters

  On February 27, 2010, an earthquake and tsunami hit the middle of Chile and caused devastating damage. The tsunami traveled across the Pacific ocean and reached the coast of Japan about one day after the occurrence of the earthquake.
  Following the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile on April 27, Mr. Rodrigo Alejandro Yàñez Benìtez, the Advisor on International and regulatory issues to H.E. the President of Chile, visited JMA on 3 August 2010 to see JMA's earthquake phenomena observation system. The Advisor gave a courtesy call on Mr. Kunio Sakurai, the Director-General of JMA, and listened to an explanation on the JMA's work on earthquakes and tsunamis from the Director-General. The Adviser showed his interest in and praised JMA's professional earthquake phenomena observation system, and extended his hope to deepen cooperative relationship between Japan and Chile.
