Visit by BNPB Deputy Director for Prevention and Preparedness

Bernardus Wisnu Widjaja, Deputy Director for Prevention and Preparedness at Indonesia's National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB), led a delegation on a visit to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) on 30 August 2017 in relation to The Project for Enhancing the Capacity of BNPB for Providing Recommendations against Disasters and Managing Area - BCM run by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The delegation consisted of executive officers from BNPB, the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) and other Indonesian national organizations engaged in Disaster Risk Reduction activities. JMA Director-General Dr. Toshihiko Hashida welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaborative relations between both parties in the field of DRR.

The delegation attended a series of presentations by JMA experts on the Agency's activities (including meteorological observation, weather forecasting and provision of information on earthquake, tsunami and volcanic activity), then took a tour of JMA's operational centers.
