Visit by China Meteorological Administration Deputy Administrator Jiao Meiyan and delegation on 23 February 2017

China Meteorological Administration Deputy Administrator Jiao Meiyan led a delegation on a visit to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) on 23 February 2017.

JMA and the China Meteorological Administration have maintained collaborative relations for years, especially in various World Meteorological Organization (WMO) activities, including numerical weather and climate prediction research, climate and information system and services.

The visitors met the Agency's Director-General Toshihiko Hashida and discussed the strategy for numerical weather and climate prediction research, engagement of private sector in weather services and ongoing collaboration in the field of meteorological and climatological services in association with WMO.

The delegation was given a tour of JMA's operational centers for monitoring, forecasting and warning services relating to meteorological, oceanographic and climatological activity. The attendees also discussed related matters in areas such as public communication of disaster risks, multi-hazard early warning systems, weather and climate research/services.
