Summary

The second day of the JMA/WMO Workshop on Quality Management of Surface Observations was held at the Regional Instrument Centre (RIC) Tsukuba north of Tokyo.
During the sessions, work conducted by RIC Beijing, RIC Manila and RIC Tsukuba was highlighted by representatives from each center.
Attendees learned about the importance of meteorological instrument calibration/traceability and the practical usage of meteorological standard instruments, and paid a visit to RIC Tsukuba in order to view JMA standard instruments, calibration equipment and test-field facilities.
