Initial visit to DOM for on-site training in calibration (2017)

From 13 to 20 January 2017, two technical experts from WMO/RIC Tsukuba paid a visit to Sri Lanka's Department of Meteorology (DOM) to provide on-site training in meteorological instrument calibration as part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project for Improving of Meteorological Observation, Weather Forecasting and Dissemination in Sri Lanka. This followed DOM training held at WMO/RIC Tsukuba in February 2016.

The experts visited local DOM stations to check how observation was performed, gave presentations on instrument calibration/traceability, and provided on-site training on DOM barometer/thermometer calibration.

The trainees reviewed the calibration procedures covered during the training at WMO/RIC Tsukuba and learned how to closely and efficiently follow detailed practical manuals on calibration procedures.
