A group of five congressmen of the United States House of Representatives, led by Rep. Jeff Denham, made a visit to JMA on February 1^st 2016. Four of them are members of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the center of their interests was the Agency's activities for disaster preparedness, mitigation and responses. They visited JMA's operation centers for weather services and earthquake, tsunami and volcano monitoring, as well as exchanged views on monitoring of hazardous phenomena and ways to raise public awareness of importance of actions to protect our own lives.
