Fifth Asian THORPEX Regional Committee Meeting was held in Tsukuba, Japan (25-26 July 2007)

Participants in ARC-5 in Tsukuba, Japan   The fifth Asian THORPEX Regional Committee (ARC) Meeting was held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba, Japan, from 25 to 26 July 2007.

  ARC members from China, India, Korea, Russia and Japan as well as observers discussed an implementation plan for T-PARC (THORPEX* Pacific Asian Regional Campaign) in 2008, an important international research activity that would advance understanding of meteorology in the Pacific region and lead to better weather forecasts.

* THORPEX (THe Observing System Research and Predictability Experiment) was established in May 2003 by the Fourteenth World Meteorological Congress (Resolution 12) as a ten-year international global atmospheric research and development programme under the auspices of the WMO Commission for Atmospheric Sciences (CAS). THORPEX is a component programme of the WMO World Weather Research Programme (WWRP).
