Cooperation through WMO and Other Multilateral Activities
The WMO facilitates international cooperation in the meteorological field to increase the harmonious development of meteorological services on a worldwide basis. JMA is one of the members actively contributing to various scientific and technical programmes of WMO. Many experts of JMA serve various Technical Commissions and the associated working groups of the Organization. Furthermore, JMA is operating a number of WMO's regional and global centers for the WWW (World Weather Watch) Programme. JMA is also involved in international programmes organized by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and others.
